THE HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND - June 2026
I am delighted to present this trip to Scotland in the Summer of 2026. We will meet at Edinburgh airport and travel up to the Highlands to enjoy the very best that the region has to offer - from the historic splendour of Royal Dornoch to the modern classic of Castle Stuart.
We will also be among the first to play Tom Doak's new course, Old Petty, which opens just a month before we are there. I have also included some of my favourite 'gems' in the area.
For those of you who haven't been on a trip with me before it is a great way to meet up with other like-minded fans of travel and play golf in a relaxed environment. We will enjoy several group meals during the trip and will have a (very relaxed) competition running for those who want to take part in that.
Please email me at david@ukgolfguy.com if you would like to book a place. I hope you can join me for a special week in the Scottish Highlands in 2026!
You can see the full itinerary HERE but the highlights are below -
SUNDAY 21ST JUNE 2026
We will meet in Edinburgh airport and leave by 9:30am. We will travel throughout the week in a luxury bus with plenty of space to stretch our and relax as we head north.
Our first round will be at Fortrose & Rosemarkie - a fun course set on the Moray Firth. From there we will head north to our accommodation for the first few nights - the Station Hotel in Dornoch.
We will have a welcome dinner tonight at the hotel.

MONDAY 22ND JUNE
It’s a 36 holes day today. This morning we will play Brora - a delightful out and back course. Traditionally it has been known for loads of quirk including electric fences around greens to keep the cattle and sheep away. However, there are moves afoot to banish the livestock from the course so we will see if that is the case when we are there!
After lunch we will head to nearby Golspie. This James Braid course has a delightful mixture of links, heathland and even a little parkland. It’s a very pleasant course to complete an excellent 36 holes day.
TUESDAY 23RD JUNE
Spend a leisurely morning exploring the lovely town of Dornoch before we head out to play one of the best links courses you will find anywhere in the world! Dornoch is very close to golf perfection, indeed some would say it is there already. You can decide if you agree after you play one of the real bucket list courses in world golf.
After the round we will have a group dinner together to reflect on the day’s play.
Royal Dornoch
WEDNESDAY 24TH JUNE
We will check out of the hotel today and head south to Nairn. Nairn really burst onto the international scene when it hosted the Walker Cup in 1999.
The links course dates from 1887 and Archie Simpson, Old Tom Morris, James Braid and Ben Sayers all had a hand in the design. With tricky greens and cunningly angled short holes, Nairn will challenge the mettle of any golfer.
After the round we will head to nearby Inverness and check into the Kingsmill Hotel and enjoy a group dinner.
THURSDAY 25TH JUNE
It’s another 36 hole day - this time at the wonderful Cabot Highlands. We will play the modern classic that is Castle Stuart this morning - consistently ranked in the top 100 courses in the world since it opened. This afternoon we will play the new kid on the block, Tom Doak’s Old Petty. The much anticipated arrival on the Scottish golf scene opens in May so we will be amongst the very first to play it.

FRIDAY 26TH JUNE
We are going to head east today to play the Old Course at Moray. A wonderfully natural design by Old Tom Morris, with a challenging layout and beautiful coastal scenery. The course that starts and finishes in the town, features deep bunkers, undulating fairways, and excellent green complexes. It offers a true links experience with one of the very best finishing stretches in Scottish golf! A real hidden gem!
We will have a group meal tonight in Inverness.
SATURDAY 27TH JUNE
We are going to check out of the hotel today and head back to Edinburgh, stopping on the way at another great course heralded by the locals - Boat of Garten. Scotland is known predominantly for links courses, but Boat of Garten is a fine example of inland golf.
Designed by one of the grand-masters of golf course architecture, James Braid, “The Boat” is set alongside the River Spey, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park
After the round we will head to Edinburgh airport where we will stay at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel
On the way we will enjoy a last meal together and we will crown the champion golfer!

WHO IS A UKGOLFGUY TRIP AIMED AT?
It's a very broad church!! Basically if you love playing great golf courses and exploring new places I’m pretty sure you will have a great time.
Often singles come along - you may find your friends aren't quite as passionate as you to discover new courses and this is a great way to meet like-minded souls.
Groups of friends do come too and that's great - the only thing I ask is that you are prepared to break your group up sometimes to play with others on the trip so we can mix things up a bit. But don't worry, I'll make sure you get to play with your travelling companions plenty too.
I run a few little competitions over the course of the trip but they are just for fun really - the focus here is on the courses and camaraderie rather than winning a trophy. If you'd rather not take part in that element, that's absolutely fine too.
So wherever you come from, whatever your golf is like - the most important thing is that you play at a good pace with a smile on your face wherever possible!
FEEDBACK FROM PREVIOUS TRIPS
Really enjoyed the trip David put together to Melbourne and the surrounding areas. He put together a great itinerary, had great supporting apps to follow along and was on top of every detail. Would definitely love to travel with David in the future!

David ran an amazing trip. A few highlights on organisation I'd call out: - you had everything organised and it ran like clockwork - I really liked how you mixed us up so we played with different people throughout the trip - you gave us just the right amount of information at the right time leading up to and during the trip - a nice balance of meals together and evenings free to do our own thing. - good choice of accommodation throughout the trip I had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed the overall experience.
